The role and place of Mathematics in today’s educational landscape is becoming increasingly more important. Largely most subjects especially the sciences have huge Mathematical content. It is therefore very important that your child make great progress in Mathematics in order to expand the opportunities that they have for a future career.

Our work is focused on helping our students have a deeper knowledge of the subject reinforcing core mathematics skills frequently to ensure that your child is secure in their knowledge. The Lextra curriculum focuses on depth of understanding to enable our students gain confidence necessary for problem solving which is increasingly becoming the standard in Mathematics. Our regular testing and feedback enables us identify knowledge gaps with students along with providing targeted intervention and support. At the secondary school level, students essentially focus on 4 core areas:

  • Algebra
  • Numbers
  • Space and Geometry
  • Statistics and Probability


Our English provision is aimed at ensuring that our students cover all the areas required to be successful and proficient with English Language. We have worked with a wide range of students including students whose first language is not English and have achieved remarkable success.

At the primary school level, we cover the following

  • Reading
  • Spelling
  • Comprehension
  • Core English (which covers grammar and the development of vocabulary)

In general, there are 5 key areas of the curriculum:

  • English (including vocabulary development and grammar)


Science is a core subject and often split into 3; Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Most schools make Sciences compulsory placing it in a group of subjects that cannot be avoided. Students need a variety of skills that varies depending on which of the sciences the content is based on. So often it is easy to see students doing very well in one science subject and not so well in others. At LEXTRA, we aim to focus on helping students develop the following competencies:

  • A good knowledge of scientific vocabulary, units and symbols
  • Knowledge of scientific theories and methodologies
  • Analytics, reasoning and evaluation skills
  • A solid mathematics competence necessary to apply to especially Physics and Chemistry
